Week 2 Fantasy Football Start/Sit, DFS & Rankings

In this weekly article series, our Writer, Zach Zander (@ZTwiceFF), will help you make those tough decisions through Start-Sit picks, DFS Fades & Sleepers, along with Weekly Rankings! In Week 1 we started off hot going 8 for 8 on Start/Sit recommendations, not onto Week 2!

Week 1 for Williams did not go as expected to say the least. He was ranked as a borderline WR1 by most analysts, yet he was outscored by guys on his own team like DeAndre Carter and Gerald Everett. Williams has never been a consistent fantasy contributor, always leaning towards the boom/bust player that can win you weeks... or lose them. All that to say, Williams is in a smash spot on Thursday Night playing in Kansas City. It should be a high-scoring affair, Keenan Allen is out, and the Chiefs are starting multiple rookie CBs. All signs point toward a tremendous bounce-back opportunity for Williams, start him with confidence.

Carr has a solid start to the season last week throwing for 295 yards, 2 TDs, and 3 uncharacteristic interceptions. The connection with Davante Adams looked great, connecting on 10 of the 17 targets, Waller looked healthy, and Renfrow as a third target will do just fine. This week he matches up against the Cardinals who were just torched by Mahomes and the Chiefs. I expect a similar stat line to Week 1 minus the costly turnovers, leaving Carr as a QB1 in my rankings for Week 2.

If the workload we saw in Week 1 is close to the norm while Brian Robinson is out, Gibson has a chance to be the CMC Lite he was always hyped up to be. He scored 20 PPR points last week without scoring a TD with 14 attempts for 58 yards on the ground, coupled with 7 receptions on 8 targets for an additional 72 yards. This week Washington takes on the Lions, whose defense looked vulnerable against the Eagles last week giving up 236 yards and 4 TDs on the ground alone. Gibson is a borderline RB1 in Week 2.

Many expected Freiermuth to be buried on this team with so many quality weapons and a low passing volume offense. Those expectations were quickly disproved in Week 1 with the Muth receiving 10 targets from Trubisky for 75 yards. This should be a low-scoring affair, so I am not expecting an explosion by any means, but Freiermuth's floor is better than most at the thin TE position.

Woods played 71% of the snaps in Week 1 but was out-targeted by Kyle Philips and Treylon Burks, along with being tied with Austin Hooper and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine for a grand total of 2 targets. There was the expectation coming into the season that Woods would be the #1 target in this offense and bring stability to your fantasy lineup. Week 1 showed that not to be the case, and he gets to face Buffalo in Week 2. I am sitting Woods everywhere and targeting Kyle Philips on waivers.

There is a multitude of factors going against Brady this week. He faces a New Orleans defense that has had his number since he joined Tampa Bay. His receiving core is banged up with Godwin out, along with Evans, Jones, and Gage being questionable. To top it all off, in Week 1 he played fine but didn't fill the box score close to enough to satisfy fantasy managers. I would pivot to other options including Winston, Stafford, Fields, and more as seen below in my rankings.

This is more of a cautionary mention vs a full-on sit recommendation. Harris said he is going to play this week but his foot injury is worrisome, as there is re-injury risk and he will not be 100%. On top of all of that, this is already a game that is expected to be low-scoring. You obviously took him in round 1 so more often than not you will not have a great pivot option, but temper your expectations to be more in the flex territory rather than an RB1.

Being out-targeted in Week 1 by Jonnu Smith is concerning for Henry's outlook going forward. Not only is he in a pretty even split for TE targets, but the New England offense did not look good. Mac Jones is on track to play but will not be 100%. All of these factors point towards Henry being a low-end TE2 option at best in a low-scoring matchup in Pittsburgh.
