Looked like a very typical Jordan Love game until the injury. He operates on time. He makes sick cross-body throws. And once a game he'll throw an interception or three. I enjoy his game overall. From my view, he's an intelligent processor with poor risk analysis. That is, he typically identifies defenses well, but he's more aggressive than he is accurate.
Tucker Kraft is a dawg. All the hype was on Luke Musgrave during the draft process, and I gotta say - being a modern tight end is all about YAC. Musgrave was the Ertz of YAC and Kraft was the Kittle. Easy choice for me to roll with Tucker this year and he has not disappointed.
Besides Tucker Kraft, Romeo Doubs is the most important receiver on this team. He's the chain-mover. The reliable isolation winner. The classic possession receiver. I was not big on him in the pre-draft process, but toughness is a trump card. Doubs can play. Lafleur will scheme guys open. In this receiving group, you need someone who will actually catch the ball.
I don't expect Love's groin injury to be a big deal. He might be limited with top gear escapery for a couple weeks, but shouldn't take away from his fastball. They may rest him for the bye, so he's 100% healthy, but I wouldn't be surprised if he plays this week vs the Lions.
JACKSONVILLE
Trevor Lawrence continues to start slow. This time Punt, Punt, Interception, Punt.
The pick came right after the Jordan Love pick, and it was one of Trevor's more braindead plays this year. He has such a hard time operating after the first read if the coverage changes from what he expected pre-snap. The Packers didn't run much of their 0 disguise like they did when they smothered the Texans. Lawrence still threw the ball directly to a safety that rotated post-snap (2nd play in video).
All of the talent is there. The offensive weapons are legit. They can tango with good teams, but it's Trevor's responsibility to keep his offense on time. When he figures it out and actually starts a game strong, the Jags will start winning again.
Week after week, Brian Thomas is showing out. He's been cooking off-coverage with a mature understanding of defender leverage. He's incredibly quick for his size and has all the lateral agility that Christian Watsons and Kevin Whites lack. Start him every week!

49ers are trying to give you a heart attack every week. With so many late game collapses against inferior opponents, it's great to see them close one out. Brock Purdy is playing very well. He missed three throws in the first half, but the rest of the game was excellent. 3 is an acceptable number of misses in today's NFL. While it's not quite good enough to beat the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, it's more than enough for an outmatched Mike Zimmer defense. This year, Brock's biggest jump has been in his management of the intermediate level of the defense. He's much cleaner with his placement, and he's triangulating his targets well in relationship to defenders that used to surprise him.
