Week 5 Waiver Stargazing

On to Week 5 we go, and with bye weeks right around the corner, we need to get prepared to add some bye week fill-ins. This week @ZTwiceFF is on vacation, so @K_H_Ray & @MattFFDynasty highlight 3 guys each who you should be eyeing up off your waivers as we head towards those dreaded bye weeks. (Rostership % via NFLFantasy)

Waiver Target

Waiver Target Of The Week

Kenneth Gainwell | RB | PHI (10.4% Rostership - 10% FAAB Recommendation) (@MattFFDynasty)

He may have slipped to the 5th round of the NFL draft, but Gainwell seems to have used that as extra motivation and has come out firing to begin the season. He is currently the RB24 in PPR leagues and outscoring fellow PHI RB Miles Sanders despite only playing an average of 35% of PHI offensive snaps per game. In Week 4, the Eagles used Gainwell in a variety of ways and he appears to have taken that Hines/McKissic role on this offense with 3 carries for 31 yards and a TD plus 6 receptions for 58 yards in Week 4. He is a must-add as RB depth, especially in PPR leagues.

Daniel Jones | QB | NYG (2.1% Rostership - 7% FAAB Recommendation) (@MattFFDynasty)

I'm surprised Jones' rostership is only at 2.1% on NFLFantasy and 32.5% on ESPN considering he is currently the QB6! He threw for over 400 yards and 2 TDs against a tough NO defense in Week 4 and now gets a juicy matchup against DAL, who are giving up the 2nd most passing yards per game. Things seem to be slowly coming together for Jones and this NYG offense, and with his rushing upside, he's a solid play at the QB position as either a streamable QB or a QB2 in Superflex leagues.

Jamison Crowder | WR | NYJ (7.1% Rostership - 5% FAAB Recommendation) (@MattFFDynasty)

Crowder made his season debut Week 4 after missing time with a groin injury and made an immediate impact. Playing in his usual slot role, he was QB Zach Wilson's favorite target (9 targets), which came as no surprise given the targets Braxton Berrios received in the same role during the first 3 weeks (21 targets). Crowder finished with 7 receptions for 61 yards and a TD and now draws another favorable matchup in Week 5 Vs ATL. In PPR leagues especially, Crowder is a solid target based on his opportunity as his rookie QB's safety blanket moving forward.

Zach Ertz | TE | PHI (18.5% Rostership - 5% FAAB Recommendation) (@K_H_Ray)

Ertz now has two straight games with more targets (15), receptions (10), and fantasy points (27) than his Eagle TE counterpart Dallas Goedert. Ertz has had some timultuous seasons in Philadelphia but seems to be turning things around including his involvement in the Nick Siriani's offense. If you just lost Logan Thomas for a few weeks and are looking for TE help, Ertz could serve as a decent fill in.

TY Hilton | WR | IND (15.7% Rostership - 5% FAAB Recommendation) (@K_H_Ray)

Hilton has yet to play a game this season as he's been dealing with a neck injury. Now elidgible to return from injured reserve, it's only a matter of time until he gets back on the field to hopefully light a spark in the Colts passing game. Nabbing T.Y. off the waiver wire this week would, admittedly, be getting on the train early. But there's a chance T.Y. can add some depth and bye week value for WR needy teams.

Kalif Raymond | WR | DET (0.6% Rostership - 2% FAAB Recommendation) (@K_H_Ray)

Now, I'm not going to sit here and tell you to start chasing Lions WRs... But it should be noted that Kalif Raymond has led the Lions WR corps with 74% of offensive snaps this season. He's also had over 12 fantasy points in the last two games, including 2 TDs scored this past Sunday against the Bears. Raymond could be a usefull flex player in deeper leagues if he continues this hot streak.
