Week 6 Fantasy Football Start/Sit

So here we are... Week 6. If you thought Week 5 was tough with 2 teams on byes and 1 game been postponed, this week will be no easier with 4 teams on their bye week! So if you are struggling with your lineup decisions, we have got you covered. This week, @MattFFDynasty gives you his weekly starts and @FFShaneB gives you his sits for Week 6.

Teams on their bye week:

  • L.A Chargers

  • Las Vegas Raiders

  • Seattle Seahawks

  • New Orleans Saints

Quarterback

Starts

Start Of The Week

Kyler Murray (ARI) @ DAL

Okay, I know it's hardly groundbreaking advice suggesting you start Kyler Murray this week, however I wanted to highlight it as I believe Murray has a real shot to finish the QB1 overall this week. Murray is currently the QB5, but it is more down to his rushing ability (296 yards & 5 TDs) rather than his passing. This week though he plays one of the worst pass defenses in the league in the Cowboys so I'm expecting a big game through the air as well as on the ground in Week 6.

Matt Ryan (ATL) @ MIN

After a hot start to the season, Matt Ryan has sizzled out over the last few weeks and currently sits as the QB19 for the year. However it isn't through a lack of trying, as he has the 3rd most passing attempts in the NFL, mainly due to the Falcons poor defense. Ryan plays the Vikings this week though, offering an ideal chance to bounce back against a poor defense with hopfully Julio Jones returning from injury.

Matthew Stafford (DET) @ JAX

Stafford has made a steady, if unspectacular, start to the season. Now he is coming off his bye week to play the Jaguars who are a middle of the road team in fantasy points allowed to the QB (21.1 FPPG). His star WR Kenny Golladay seems to be over his injury issues and I believe this game could turn into a bit of a shootout. You can start Stafford with confidence this week as a guy with a solid floor.

Sits

Sit Of The Week

Carson Wentz (PHI) Vs BAL

Carson Wentz is more like Carson Wontz this year. He has 9 interceptions and only 6 TDs passing. Oh and this week he faces Baltimore whose defense has been unreal against QBs. They made me worry about Baker Mayfield, but after seeing him against other teams I chalked it up to Baltimore just being that good. Wentz offensive line is going to have to give him time to throw and I do not think they will be able to. Sit Wentz!

Baker Mayfield (CLE) @ PIT

The aforementioned Mr. Mayfield has looked decent this year minus the Baltimore game. He is fulfilling his role on the team and they are winning games. I think he will continue to build confidence and look better and better this year. But, this week will be a different story as Pittsburgh’s defense has been NASTY. Their pass rush is very good and they are in the top 5 defenses against each position in fantasy, soooo sit Baker this week.

Nick Foles (CHI) @ CAR

Uh Carolina’s pass defense is surprisingly good. And their pass rush is good. The Bears offensive line has not been great, so protecting Foles will be a challenge this week thus I think he struggles. I would sit him even in SuperFlex leagues this week.

Running Back

Starts

Start Of The Week

Raheem Mostert (SF) Vs LAR

Mostert returned from his recent knee injury in Week 5 looking like he'd never been gone, putting up 119 yards from scrimmage against the Dolphins. Now Mostert sets his sights on the L.A Rams who have been much better against the pass than they have the run, and with QB Jimmy Garoppolo struggling this season, I expect the 49ers to lean heavily on the run game again this week.

Ronald Jones (TB) Vs GB

Maybe Ronald Jones is actually a good RB?! The fantasy communitee keeps doubting Rojo, yet he keeps on producing. His Snap % keeps increasing each week (Week 1 - 47%/Week 5 - 70%) and he has now had back-to-back 100 yard games. Its also worth mentioning they have been against solid run defenses too in the Chargers and Bears. Rojo now gets the Green Bay Packers who are giving up the 3rd most fantasy points per game (31.7), so even if fellow RB Leonard Fournette gets touches, I still expect Rojo to be a reliable back for you in Week 6.

James Robinson (JAX) Vs DET

I guess the fairytale of Robinson been a consistent RB1 couldn't last forever, and he came back down to earth with a bang against the Texans. However, an instant bounceback opportunity is there for the taking for Robinson against a poor Detriot Lions defense who are 5th worst in fantasy points allowed (28.3) and Robinson's usage in the pass game (averaging 4 receptions a game) should give him a safe floor as well.

Sits

Sit Of The Week

Kareem Hunt (CLE) @ PIT

If you are like me you were trying to get Kareem Hunt a lot. I was trying to do it especially in leagues where I owned Chubb. So sitting him will be a tough decision but it is necessary this week. That Pittsburgh defensive line is doing what they want to other teams in the run and pass game, so I expect a very difficult game for Kareem The only positive he may have is his work in the passing game.

Joe Mixon (CIN) @ IND

Joe Mixon has a tough matchup this week in Indianapolis. The Colts have been very good against the run and limiting running backs in fantasy…..on opposing teams and their own(I still have hope for you JT). Cincinnati struggled last week and will probably struggle this week too, so sit Mixon.

James White (NE) Vs DEN

James White is usually a solid flex play option always as the receiving back for the Patriots. This week he plays Denver though and they are the number one fantasy defense against running backs, so I would not even start him in a flex position which I know is made difficult with bye weeks, but if you have other options go there first.

Wide Receiver

Starts

Start Of The Week

Adam Thielen (MIN) Vs ATL

Thielen is currently the WR2 through the first 5 weeks and his dominant performance don't seem to to stopping anytime soon with a prime matchup against the poor Falcons pass defense. Coming off a 80 yard 2 TD game in Week 5 and clearly QB Kirk Cousins favorite target, Thielen can put up another high WR1 finish in this likely shootout.

Marquise Brown (BAL) @ PHI

Brown always offers high upside with his speed, but he now appears to be QB Lamar Jackson's top target with 36 targets through the first 5 weeks. Now Brown and the Baltimore Ravens faceoff against the Eagles after grabbing his first TD of 2020 last week. Confidence will be high and with the huge upside Brown offers, I'm happy to start him this week knowing he has that solid floor as Jacksons go-to target.

Jamison Crowder (NYJ) @ MIA

Even if you don't believe in Crowders talent, you have to believe in his usage with the Jets! The Jets have major injury issues at WR, yet Crowder has finished with 100 yard games every week he has played his season. He now gets the 5th worst defense in points allowed to opposing WRs (34.5) in the Miami Dolphins and I fully expect that usage to carry on even with another week of QB Joe Flacco playing. Crowder is a start pretty much every week, especially in PPR leagues.

Sits

Sit Of The Week

Deebo Samuel (SF) Vs LAR

Deebo! Welcome back to your second full game since injuring your foot! Have a dose of Jalen Ramsey because that should help heal it since you won’t be seeing many targets being covered by Ramsey. The Rams secondary overall has been difficult for fantasy receivers to crack, so I would temper expectations for Deebo and sit him this week.

Chris Godwin (TB) VS GB

Green Bay has been good against receivers in fantasy as well. Jaire Alexander and Darnell Savage have probably been the cause of this. Godwin should be coming back from injury finally, but I expect him to have a rough day against this secondary. Sit him as if he’s still injured and then bring him back next week.

Jerry Jeudy (DEN) @ NE

Jeudy has looked pretty good in his last two games. They have had a longer period off because of COVID. And that means Stephon Gilmore has had more time to study him. Because of this I think Jeudy is going to have a rough day against one of the best corners in the league and you should sit him. Good luck Rook!

Tight End

Starts

Start Of The Week

Evan Engram (NYG) Vs WAS

Its been a disappointing start to the year not just for Engram but the New York Giants as a whole. However, we all knew they had a tough start to the season but the schedule is now starting to ease. Engram gets a nice matchup against Washington who have struggled against opposing TEs and given up 5 TDs to the position. This could be the start of the bounce back for Engram.

Jonnu Smith (TEN) @ HOU

Jonnu Smith looks unstoppable right now! He is currently the TE3 despie playing only 4 games through 5 weeks and is coming off another great performance against the Bills where he had 5 targets for 40 yards and 2 TDs. If this usage carries on (averaging 7 targets a game) then Smith will be a weekly TE1 for owners and a must start.

T.J Hockenson (DET) @ JAX

Hockenson appears to have made great strides since his rookie season and appears to be a TE you can rely on this season. He now has 15 receptions for 180 yards and 2 TDs so far this season, and coming of his bye week, gets the poor Jaguars pass defense who are giving up an average of 14.2 FPPG.

Sits

Sit Of The Week

Austin Hooper (CLE) @ PIT

Not to beat a dead horse, but Pittsburgh’s defense is really good. Sit your Cleveland players. But Hooper finally showed some life of more than 2-3 catches and 20-30 yards last week, so that Is why he is our sit of the week. He gave us false hope last week and has a very tough matchup this week. Sit him, cut him even. Just don't play him this week.

Rob Gronkowski (TB) Vs GB

The same thing can be said for Gronk as Hooper. He has not had a great year and he has a very tough matchup. He should hopefully start to see more volume with OJ Howard out, but this week is not the week to test that as Green Bay is the second ranked fantasy defense against tight ends.

Tyler Higbee (LAR) @ SF

Higbee had a rough game last week. San Francisco also had a rough week last week, but they are still a good defense against tight ends, so I would be weary to start him this week especially after his performance last week.

Defense

Starts

Start Of The Week

Baltimore Ravens @ PHI

Shane mentioned it all at the start of this article with his QB Sit Of The Week being Carson Wentz, so there is no need to get too cute with this one. The Ravens have been a top defense so far this season and get the Eagles who have plenty of problems with their Oline. I expect the Ravens to pile on the pressure often to opposing QB Carson Wentz who leads the league in INTs with 9 through 5 games. Its going to be a long afternoon for Wentz.

Indianapolis Colts Vs CIN

Washington FT @ NYG

New England Patriots Vs DEN

Miami Dolphins Vs NYJ

Sits

Sit Of The Week

San Francisco 49ers Vs LAR

The Rams are good. I feel like not a lot of people are talking about them a lot, but this team can play with anyone. Offensively and defensively. San Francisco got torn up by Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Dolphins last week. The Rams are much better, so I expect similar (or worse) results for the 49ers D this week.

Philadelphia Eagles Vs BAL

Houston Texans @ TEN

Cleveland Browns @ PIT
